psychometrics

psychometrics

Psychometrics have two key uses:

Recruitment

In a recruitment context they provide the hiring manager with additional information that could not be accurately assessed in an interview.  The assessment tools typically fall into two categories, those that assess certain abilities and those that measure personality types and traits.

Having additional sources of information will help you to improve your recruitment decisions and make sure that you hire the right person.  Making  a bad hire is expensive and time consuming, so by investing at the decision making stage can be money well spent.

Development

Psychometrics can also be used to develop existing employees, giving them data that helps them to recognise their strengths and areas that they may want to develop.  These tools can be used to develop individuals and teams.
